Famous aboriginal didgeridoo player David Hudson is pictured at left with a big "forked" double-didge. David borrowed this didgeridoo from us and played it in live performance to a sold-out show of over 6,000 people at the Gibson amphitheater in Los Angeles.
David's regular quiver of sticks were in Florida for an event the following week, so when the L.A. gig rocked up he needed some concert quality didges and fast! Special thanks to our mates Donald, Howard, and Andrew for helping as well. Everything worked out great and the performance was a huge success.
David was invited to perform as a special guest with famous Armenian singer Armen Gondrachyan (pictured below) and his full orchestra of 22 musicians along with six dancers. Mark and I attended the show and truly enjoyed the music, staging, and full on energy.
David Hudson with a "forked" didgeridoo from L.A.Outback The big show that David performed in was filmed (11 cameras, no kidding) and we're going to get enough copies to provide whomever buys the didgeridoos that David played in the show with a DVD. We caught many moments where David was directly on camera, and he mostly used the forked didge he's holding in the photo above, and a gorgeous bloodwood D by Kirin Woibo. These are both currently available, but they may sell before I get them posted on the website so ring us on 1-800-519-1140 if you are interested in the specs on one or both of these didgeridoos. Kinda extra cool that they've been played live on stage by David, and you'll have a video to show off as well.
David also has a new CD coming out that's being distributed in the U.S. fairly soon. It's a country album and David does all the vocals. If that sounds strange to you (David being such a famous didgeridoo player and all), let me tell you that country music is very big among Australian aboriginal people. And I'm not talking about modern crossover country, I mean Hank Williams... the old stuff. When you visit Australia and go into the outback, country music is heard everywhere. We wish David all the best with his new vocal CD, and a new didgeridoo CD is in the works as well.
